We have some exciting news to share.\u00a0Starting\u00a0July 1, Texas Public Radio and San Antonio Report will\u00a0unite, sharing resources and capabilities to better serve\u00a0you\u00a0and the broader Texas community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas Public Radio\u00a0and San Antonio Report have a shared mission to serve our audiences with vital, community-informed journalism.\u00a0Whether\u00a0talking\u00a0with\u00a0community leaders,\u00a0creating a voter guide, or\u00a0attending a\u00a0public\u00a0information session,\u00a0we\u00a0gather and\u00a0report the news with\u00a0purpose.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Over the past several years, the media landscape has evolved significantly. Newsrooms are shrinking. The way audiences consume news is changing. And, as we saw last summer, federal funding for public media is gone.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

With these challenges in mind, we recognized the need for a new path forward. After brainstorming how to\u00a0leverage\u00a0our strengths and continue delivering the credible, fact-based journalism you deserve, we came to the same conclusion: We are stronger together.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Antonio needs\u00a0robust\u00a0local journalism now more than ever. As the seventh-largest city in the United States, and the largest Latino-majority city, we have an opportunity to\u00a0bolster\u00a0local reporting and better reflect the people and stories that shape our region.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Today, there are just 3.6 journalists in San Antonio for every\u00a0100,000 residents, ranking No. 1,794 nationally.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0what brought us here. By joining forces,\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0building a more sustainable path forward, while following the lead of successful nonprofit newsrooms like\u00a0CalMatters, Denverite and\u00a0LAist.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

As a\u00a0united\u00a0organization, our commitment to independent local journalism will not change. This\u00a0effort\u00a0will be a force multiplier, allowing us to reach new\u00a0audiences and cover the San Antonio region with a greater breadth and depth than ever before.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Initially, we will continue to\u00a0operate\u00a0our own websites and channels while strategically sharing content across platforms. A long-term integration plan will guide our process over the coming years. In the meantime, we will continue to keep you updated on this effort through regular newsletters,\u00a0announcements\u00a0and posts on our social media channels.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
