An Ohio-based clothing manufacturer is closing its Eastside plant, leaving 68 workers without a job when it shuts down on June 30.<\/p>\n

National Safety Apparel LLC is a clothing maker that specializes in attire for industrial, utility and military employees, among others. Its brands include Drifire and Enespro.<\/p>\n

National Safety Apparel informed the Texas Workforce Commission on April 23 it would be closing its plant on Currency Drive, just east of Salado Creek.<\/p>\n

Employers with 100 or more full-time employees are required to submit a notice to the state under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act of 1988. Those layoffs are listed online by the Texas Workforce Commission.<\/p>\n

The 68 laid off workers include 44 sewing machine operators, as well as technicians, managers and the director of operations.<\/p>\n

The facility is scheduled to close June 30.<\/p>\n

National Safety Apparel employs 1,300 workers in 11 factories across the country. The company was founded in Cleveland in 1935.<\/p>\n

In 2024, private equity firm Blue Point Capital Partners acquired National Safety Apparel, but kept the clothing manufacturer\u2019s CEO. It has hired four new executives since the beginning of 2025, according to its website.<\/p>\n

National Safety Apparel has also expanded, acquiring other companies and clothing lines in its industry over the last several years.<\/p>\n
